The Villalar Castilla y León Foundation  has announced a call for EIGHT research grants of 6,000 Euros each.

The nature of the research projects will be directly proposed by the candidates and will focus on issues related to culture, art, history or the unique identity of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León.

The Alfonso Martín Escudero Foundation  has announced a call for THIRTY grants to carry out research work in universities or research centers abroad. Research must involve issues and themes related to one of the following areas:

·         Agriculture and Stockbreeding

·         Ocean Sciences

·         Health Sciences

·         Nature Preservation

·         Food Technology

The Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain  will be granting a series of research awards. Participants must be doctors who are Spanish nationals, and who who have delivered their theses and completed the 2008/2009 academic year (from October 1st, 2008 to June 30th, 2009, both dates included) cum laude.

The article “Board Composition and Firm Internationalization” authored by José Luis Rivas (PhD student) and Professors Monika Hamori and Margarita Mayo (Human Resources and Organizational Behavior Department), has been nominated for the award for best article in the International Management Division of the Academy of Management 2009.

The article “The Right to be Defended in China” authored by Marie Jose  Garot, has been accepted for presentation to be delivered at the European China Law Studies Association Conference in Viena.

The article “Toward a Contingency Theory of Telecommuting Adoption: The Role of Leadership”, authored by Margarita Mayo along with PhD students Shainaz Firfiray  and Veronica Villena has been accepted for presentation at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting.

The article “Team Members’ Innovativeness Fit with Leader and Team: Effects on Members’ Socio-Emotional and Performance Outcomes”, authored by professors Margarita Mayo, Juan Carlos Pastor and Andreas Richter has been accepted to be presented at the Academy of Management Meeting.

The article “The Role of the Supply Chain Executive in Supply Chain Integration: A Behavioral Approach”, authored by Elena Revilla, Luis Gómez-Mejía (W.P. Carey School of Business) and PhD student Veronica Villena, has been accepted for presentation at the Academy of Management Meeting.

The article “A Study of Spanish Companies’ Hedging Strategies in Latin America”, authored by Guillermo Cardoza, in collaboration with Professor Gastón Fornes, from the University of Bristol, has been published in the Journal of US-China Public Administration, Volume 6, No. 1, February 2009.

The publishing house Chistian Marinotti Edizioni will publish a book authored by Professor Eugenia López Reus. It is the Italian translation of her book on Italian architect Ernesto Rogers. The release of this book coincides with the 100th anniversary of his birth and other celebrations and commemorations in honor of the architect.

The Instituto Castellano Leonés de la Lengua, sponsored by Caja Segovia, has awarded  Professor Fernando Villaseñor the Sinodal de Aguilafuente Prize. MoreMore

Professor Concha Díez-Pastor has been invited by Dr. Mariann Simon, Head of the Theory of Architecture Department, to deliver the following two lectures: ‘The Origins of Contemporary Spanish Architecture’ and ‘The ‘Bilbao effect’: Contemporary Architecture in Spain’, at the School of Architecture, Budapest University of Technology and Economics.  

Professor Fernando Bermejo has joined the Editorial Board of Communication Theory Magazine, published by Wiley-Blackwell and the International Communication Association. Also, his piece “Audience Manufacture in Historical Perspective: From Broadcasting to Google” has been published in New Media & Society (Sage Publications).

Magdalena Wojcieszak has been nominated and is being considered to be included in the upcoming 2010 Edition of “Who’s Who in America“. Since 1899, when A.N. Marquis published the First Edition of “Who’s Who in America”, business people, researchers, educators, students and others have relied upon its accuracy and up-to-date information.

On March 13th Associate Professor Carmen Abril delivered her doctoral thesis on Innovation and Distribution Brands with a Cum Laude grade.

On March 26th, Beatriz García Osma, Professor of Accounting at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, presented the research seminar:

“Conditional Conservatism and Firm Investment Efficiency”

On April 2nd, Caterina Moschieri, Professor of Strategy at FCEE- Universidad Católica Portuguesa, presented the research seminar: 


“The implementation and structuring of divestitures: The unit’s perspective”

On April 3rd, Anil K. Makhija,  Professor of Finance at Fisher College, University of Ohio State, presented the research seminar:

“The Impact of Shareholder Power on Bondholders: Evidence from Mergers and Acquisitions”
