Professor Rocío Bonet was awarded the Marie Curie Grant, a 4-year International Reintegration Grant with a total subsidy of 100,000.

In addition, the Labor and Employment Relations Association has granted  Rocío an “Honorable Mention Award“.

The Banco Herrero Foundation has announced the celebration of the 8th FBH Award ceremony for researchers under the age of 40 (born after January 1st, 1969). The Lilly Foundation together with the Chair of Medical Education Lilly Foundation-UCM, sponsors ten grants to attend the 19th SEDEM Congress and the Association for Medical Education in Europe Congress (AMEE) 2009. The grants include registration to the workshop organized by the Chair of Medical Education Lilly Foundation-UCM.

Ignacio de la Vega has been appointed President of the GEM Council, which is made up of a number of prestigious universities, governments and business schools from more than fifty countries. The GEM Council in Spain is coordinated by the IE.

On January 29, 2009, the 2008 GEM Report, a world renowned analytical study on the creation of companies in 43 different countries, was presented at the IE Business School. In the last nine years the GEM Report has been carried out by the IE Department of Entrepreneurial Management and directed by Ignacio de la Vega.

Samuel Martín Barbero, Dean of the School of Communication at IE University, has been appointed member of the Scientific Committee of Icono 14 magazine.

Professor David Bach’s article, “Varieties of Cooperation: The Domestic Institutional Roots of Global Governance” has been accepted for publication in the Review of International Studies.

A paper co-authored by Monika Hamori and IE PhD student Burak Koyuncu “Does Jobs-Specific Experience Increase Performance on the Job? A Look at 1001 European and US CEOs” has been nominated for the Best paper award at the European Academy of Management Conference (EURAM 2009). It will also be published in the Best Paper Proceedings of the conference.

The article “Implementing New Institutional Logics in Pioneering Organizations: The Burden of Justifying Ethical Appropriateness and Trustworthiness” authored by Karan Sonpar, Jay Handelman and Ali Dastmalchian, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Business Ethics.

In addition, the article “Reconciliation can Lead to Better Application: Rejoinder to Perrow”, authored by Karan Sonpar, Samir Shrivastava and Federica Pazzaglia has been accepted for publication in Human Relations.

Guillermo Cardoza’s article “Foreign Exchange Exposure in Emerging Markets: A Study of Spanish Companies in Latin America”, written in collaboration with Professor Gastón Fornes from the University of Bristol, will be published in the International Journal of Emerging Markets, Vol. 4, Issue 1.

Associate Marketing Professor Manuel Alonso Coto has published the book “The Digital Marketing Plan”.

The article authored by Magdalena Wojcieszak, titled “False Consensus Goes Online: Impact of Ideologically Homogeneous Online Groups on False Consensus” was published in a December issue of Public Opinion Quarterly. 

Recently, Magdalena was appointed member of the Journal of Communication’s Editorial Committee.

In addition, Magdalena’s paper “When Deliberation Divides: Process Underlying Mobilization to Collective Action”obtained first place in the paper competition for PhD students organized by DC-Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research.

Professor Javier Ignacio García has recently published the article “Crisis and Crisis Military Management in the European Union: The Road to Updating European Security Strategy”, in UNISCI Discussion Papers.

The book “Investments and Financial Markets in Times of Uncertainty”, authored by Francisco J. López Lubián and Rafael Hurtado Coll was presented on January 27th.

Professor José Vela will participate in the Third Sessions on Research in Architecture and Urban Development with the following paper: “The Other: (of) Architecture. Research in Architecture or How Architecture is Already Research”.

Professors José Vela and María de la O del Santo will participate in the international conference City Futures in a Globalising World: An International Conference on Globalism and Urban Change” with the following paper: “Crossing The River : Native Space / Stranger Space / Urban Space”.

The 24th Spanish Society of Microscopy Conference will be held June 16-19, 2009, in Segovia.

This conference will be organized by SME, SPMicros, IE University and the National Centre of Biotechnology.
