The Fulbright Specialist Program is designed to provid short-term (two to six weeks) academic opportunities in ny discipline for U.S. faculty and professionals to visit Spanish academic and research institutions. The purpose of the program is to promote increased connections between U.S. and on-U.S. post-secondary academic institutions Applications are accepted on a rolling bases, and peer review of applications is conducted eight times per year.

Financing: The “Senior Specialists” program covers the expenses of a return transatlantic trip and an honorarium per day for a researcher to work in Spain. The host institution will cover food and lodging in Spain and any necessary domestic travel.

Requirements: The inviting university must be recognized by the Spanish State, be a research center and teach postgraduate programs. The Spanish institution must send the request to the Commission two months in advance if the specialist is a candidate approved by the collaborating institution in the United States, and 3 months in advance if he/she is not. The Commission will provide the list of approved candidates.

CIES builds list of qualified Specialist candidates fo each eligible discipline, which form part of its Specialist Roster, and it facilitates matching Senior Specialist candidates with project requests.
